Description
Staged Fire Burn Simulation for Realistic Forearm Training Scenarios
The Forearm TraumaWear Fire Burn Set by TraumaSim delivers a highly realistic, clinically informed simulation of fire burn progression over time. Because real burns continue to change long after the initial injury, responders must understand how tissue appearance evolves before advanced care becomes available. This kit allows trainees to observe and manage fire burns across the first 48 hours, providing essential insight into how these injuries worsen, deepen and deteriorate.
Developed in collaboration with Professor Fiona Wood AO, this set reflects the key visual and structural changes seen in real burn trauma. Her clinical expertise ensured each stage—from the acute phase to significant deterioration—aligns with the way burns present in real patients. This staged approach helps learners build stronger clinical reasoning, faster recognition and a deeper understanding of fire burn management.
“My consultations with TraumaSim have enabled the creation of high-fidelity burns training resources that reflect the challenges of real-world care. Such realism drives deeper learning and leads to better outcomes for those suffering burn injuries.”

Why Staged Fire Burn Training Matters
Fire burns do not remain static. They are dynamic injuries that evolve rapidly as swelling, blistering, tissue breakdown and infection risk increase. Early stages may appear manageable; however, within hours, a burn can progress into a significantly more severe and complex wound. Therefore, responders must learn to identify these changes quickly and adapt treatment accordingly.
The Forearm TraumaWear Fire Burn Set lets trainers demonstrate precisely how fire burns progress at 0–2 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours. This progression-based training improves situational awareness, promotes accurate triage decisions and prepares learners for the emotional and clinical realities of treating worsening burn injuries.

Learning Outcomes
- Identify changes in burn severity from the initial 0–2 hour stage through 48 hours
- Recognise early and late indicators of burn depth, swelling and tissue damage
- Practise clinical decision-making across multiple stages of deterioration
- Strengthen communication and confidence when treating changing burn presentations
Additional Details
All burns in this set are hand painted, so minor variation is normal. Various skin tones are available; commonly used tones are stocked, while others are made to order. Manikin not included; wounds shown on a manikin for demonstration only.
