Emergency Tourniquet Trainer (ETT) – Arterial Bleeding Control Training System

The TraumaSim Emergency Tourniquet Trainer (ETT) was the world’s first dedicated tourniquet training unit, developed to deliver realistic, reactive haemorrhage control training. Designed for repeated hands-on practice, the ETT allows learners to apply a tourniquet and immediately observe whether bleeding has been successfully occluded.

Arterial haemorrhage can lead to death within minutes without intervention. Effective tourniquet application is a critical life-saving skill that must be taught correctly, practised accurately, and repeated to develop muscle memory and confidence under pressure.

Realistic Arterial Bleeding & Occlusion Feedback

The TraumaSim ETT has been engineered to replicate the pressure required to stop an actual arterial bleed. When correct tourniquet technique is applied, the bleeding visibly occludes. If the unit continues to bleed, technique, placement, or tension must be adjusted — reinforcing real-world skill development.

Developed and tested with input from Australian Defence Force medics, the ETT was benchmarked against realistic haemorrhaging response, tissue resistance, and occlusion pressure to ensure accurate training feedback.

If it is difficult to stop the bleeding on your ETT, it reflects the real-world challenge of stopping arterial haemorrhage.

Each unit supports wet or dry training. For maximum realism, TraumaSim recommends operating the bleeding function during scenario-based exercises.

The 5-litre manual pressure pump allows instructors to simulate arterial flow under pressure, providing repeatable, reactive bleeding response during training sessions.
